Pink Label Corsets to the rescue!

by Caramella December 10th, 2009

The clock was ticking.  The Glamazons’ Eastern Seaborne Tour was underway.  We were heading down to Key West performing shows along the way with only two weeks to finalize details!  On top of all this, our very own Lady Finger was getting married!  Not just a normal wedding, but doing it the only way a true Glamazon can, on T.V. on the Style network for an episode of “Who’s Wedding it is Anyway?”

We had shows to perform, a wedding to plan and time was not on our side.  Now you Glam fans know, we were not about to step on that tour bus without the fiercest new outfit! The Glamazons have to keep our fans delighted and guessing!  We needed a new getup that expressed our rambunctious yet poised style!  Miraculously, at one of our last rehearsals before heading out, our luscious and fabulous choreographer Johnnie P. (http://www.johnniep.com/) pulled out a sketch of us all decked out in fringe dresses (snaps for Johnnie P!  He just knew “fringe” had to be our next style choice for our fans!).  There was a beautiful drawing of Ginger Snap in royal blue that set her fare skin and red hair aglow.  Lady Finger was portrayed in a hot red fringe dress looking sexy and ominous – a true Diva!  Caramella was drawn in a goldenrod yellow that made her skin and hair shine like the setting sun.  And, Candy Apple was as perky in her pink fringe dress as she could be –dimples deep set and cute as ever.

But, where were we going to find such amazing dresses within a two week time crunch?  We searched high and low and finally stumbled upon Pink Label Corsets (http://www.pinklabelcorsets.com/)!  Pink Label Corsets offer exciting and affordable custom made fashions and specialize in corsets. We loved their style but we needed fringe dresses!  We read that the Pink Label Designers also design by request so we desperately emailed Tuley, the founder and owner of Pink Label Fashions explaining our dilemma.  Tuley graciously accepted the challenge as she was a Glamazon fan and Glamazon at heart, lucky us!  We were ecstatic and grateful beyond belief!

The fringe dresses were on the way!  Yet this was no easy task; fitting us four buxom babes under a week.  At this point, we were already on the tour bus, so we hurriedly took measurements; practically falling over each other at some odd hour of the night, emailing and calling Tuley “oops we miss-measured ourselves.” Tuley, willingly obliged us (it’s so great to work with a professional!).  We were down to the wire and had mere hours before our big show in Key West.  Pacing in our hotel room, hoping we had the dresses in time, we heard a knock on the door and lo and behold it was Tuley’s beautiful daughter Chris!  She hand delivered us the dresses and the rest was fringe-madness herstory!  Tuley truly worked her magic.  Thank you Tuley and Chris!

Our Glam-fam and fans will be able to see the final fringe dresses on the Style network.  The episode is called “The Road to I do” for the show “Who’s Wedding it is anyway?”  It’s scheduled to air on December 20th at 9PM EST.  The Glamazons were so excited to have Tuley and the Pink Label crew along for the ride –helping us shimmy and shake our loveliness one Glamazon strand at a time!

Love you MJ!!!

by Caramella June 26th, 2009

It’s taken a while for me to find the words to express my sadness and shock at the sudden loss of the remarkable music icon Michael Jackson. Michael has been there my whole life and I don’t remember a time when he wasn’t. His music has always been in my head, in the background, like a constant whisper. My father played his music, my mother had her favorite songs, and my brother, well… growing up there was a time when I thought he was Michael Jackson.

The past two months I’ve been running in Central Park in the Northern Woods. Every morning I get up, put on my ipod, press shuffle and go. At first, it wasn’t easy for me to run as getting my breath and body moving in rhythm was a struggle. But one morning while running in the deepest part of the woods, “Wanna be Startin’ Somethin’ ” played and something happened to me. I forgot I was running. I started striding like I did when I was 15. I was leaping over fallen trees and jumping like I was Flo Jo. Then the end ad-lib part came chanting “Ma Ma Se, Ma Ma Sa, Ma Ma Coo Sa; Ma Ma Se, Ma Ma Sa, Ma Ma Coo Sa; Ma Ma Se, Ma Ma Sa, Ma Ma Coo Sa; Ma Ma Se, Ma Ma Sa, Ma Ma Coo Sa; Sing it to the world, sing it out loud, woo hoo!…” I cried and ran and cried and ran. Maybe it was the combination of Michael and the air but I finally experienced my first runner’s high. Since then, every morning I’ve run to Michael Jackson.

Upon hearing about his death, I wondered to myself, was MJ speaking to me these last two months? Was he connecting me to his spirit, telling me “stride, continue to strive and never give up.” How did he know I needed his music and spirit to pull me through? I wonder if I knew on some karmic level that his time was coming to an end. I’ve been closer to Michael musically these past two months then I ever have. I heard new harmonies and vocal inflections I’ve never before heard. And, I swore I knew all his music by heart. The builds on each song to the very end compelled me to reach further and never stop.

I do feel as if I’m having a bizarre dream where everyone is playing his music, dancing in the streets and wearing some form of iconic Jackson gear. I hear in the distance that he’s passed but I cannot believe it and I awake to find it’s not a dream. I am still in shock and I will never be the same.

People need to know that Michael Jackson was always fighting for human rights and for people to feel comfortable being themselves. Through his music and videos, he was always showing the injustice of the world and that you can overcome it. He is my hero and my heart. I would not be the performer I am today without him.

My love, thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

All I can say is:

“Lift Your Head Up High
And Scream Out To The World
I Know I Am Someone
And Let The Truth Unfurl
No One Can Hurt You Now
Because You Know What’s True
Yes, I Believe In Me
So You Believe In You
Help Me Sing It, Ma Ma Se,
Ma Ma Sa, Ma Ma Coo Sa
Ma Ma Se, Ma Ma Sa,
Ma Ma Coo Sa

Sing it to the world

Sing it out loud

Woo hoo!”

Our new addition!

by Sarah May 18th, 2009

Hello all!!! Well, it’s been a busy few months getting everything ready to launch our fundraising campaign. In the next few months Meryl is getting married (YAY), I am moving in to a new apartment, and we are hoping to raise some serious money and get our album out there. But, in true Sarah fashion, I decided I didn’t have enough on my plate and my boyfriend and I got a dog. We’ve named him ‘Samuel Pepper’. It was spontaneous but his little brown eyes pulled at our heart strings…. So, we are going to have to come up with a candy nick name for the first ever Glamazon Dog! What does everyone think? He is a little salt and pepper colored mini schnauzer/terrier…. Peppermint Patty? Dr. Pepper? Tootsie Roll?

xoxo,

   Sarah
